Designer Justus Kolberg and Johannes Egelseer, sports scientist and athletics coach of the German national hockey team, give insight into their work: Together with lento managing director Jürgen Zimmermann they shed light on the 4-year lasting, complex development process of the new swivel chair series „agilis“ which stands for exceptional variability and a seating comfort unique on the market. The development team not only benefited from its long-term professional experience in ergonomics, technology and medicine, it also took advantage of the company‘s special customer proximity.

Architecture must go beyond the limits not only of disciplinary tradition, but also of the aspirational framework it circumscribes to, whether aesthetic or technical, to revolve around its centre of gravity – the city and its citizens – in a radical new way. In this sense, innovation is the fundamental vector to create an overflow and expansion in architecture. Having said that, it is important to know how to interpret and understand the idea of innovation from an open and pluralistic perspective, and not from the narrow mental window of closed disciplines.
For this reason, the proposal of Archikubik aims to lay the groundwork for a definition of the innovation vector as mentioned earlier; and in doing so reaffirming the first principle in the concept of innovation: plurality.
In order to truly innovate, it is necessary to open up to a reality that is both bastard and culturally ambiguous by definition, capturing the accelerated pace of modern times and moving the target of our ideas forward, without losing sight of the advances achieved. That is why expanding architecture can and should be done from a basis of plurality.

When planning a revitalization in the interest of the owner, the main goal should be to make the chances and the risks calculable. How can this be optimally achieved? The prerequisite is a corresponding Technical Due Diligence (TDD), an indispensable basis for a serious planning. Which factors play the most important role? The result is often a typical red flag report – but measures should go beyond that – Andreas Schlote will further elucidate this aspect for you.

The safe setting up of the design parameters as well as the examination of the behavior of the future user of the property are a guarantee for a successful repositioning.
In addition to the performance check of the real estate, both economically and technically, the property's spatial architectural identity should be tested for compatibility with today's user behavior - the interplay of these values is fundamental for a successful re-design (outcome).

The development process of Plasma Studio starts with setting-up a concise organisational system, taylor -made to the architectural challenge, i.e. the relation of the Existing to the New.
A DNA that is formed and charged through intermeshing, superposition and reciprocal exchange between external (context, flows), internal (material, construction) parameters.
This DNA has bred a repertory of folded planar surfaces that always seeks the alignment towards existing (usually orthogonal) structures. They enable a critical tectonic reflection of current building technology and material systems towards the expansion of possibilities. Transitions, complex relationships and unique spatial qualities offer localisation, orientation and identification to the user whilst remaining an integral part of the larger systemic whole.
Holger Kehne will demonstrate the almost 20-year long development of these concerns from small conversions in London, a range of competitions to the current transformation of a 1970s commercial shed in Lower Saxony, Germany.

An attractive appearance and long-term value retention -two factors which are in the forefront when refurbishing or modernizing building facades. Coating systems with vinyl offer a highly interesting alternative for hotels, office buildings and much more. They are weather-resistant, color and dimensionally stable and protect the facade against aging, chalking or mold -more and langer than any paint. The lecture will cover the advantages and prejudices and will show you how to obtain the added value of your property with innovative coating solutions and at the same time combine aesthetics and function.
